Birthday Card - Dad 2011

My Dad loves cricket, and also plays in a local team, so I thought this would be ideal for him! I'm still not amazing at illustration but I feel I'm improving! I especially like how the sweater pattern stays vertical rather than flowing with the creases.

Birthday Card - Ant 2011

I forgot to post the card I made for my friend Ant, as I was busy the following few days, but here it is! For those of you who play TF2 will know the character and the quote (which has been edited) and he is Ant's favorite class in the game.

[EDIT] 100th post! :D

Birthday Card - James 2011

For James' card I wanted to experiment more with an illustrative style that I have been working on, with the use of lines and shapes to flow the eye around the illustration. I like the style and will continue to develop it further.

Birthday Card - Mum 2011

As my Mum loves Ballet (and used to do it) I thought she would appreciate a Ballet themed card. I illustrated the dancer from a photo, but while illustrating, I found that I really enjoyed it, so hopefully I can develop an illustrative style alongside my usual designs!

Birthday Card - Kate

I thought I would design a Minecraft themed card for my friend Kate. As we both play Minecraft on Chris' server with James/melonwall I thought it was appropriate.

Birthday Card - Claire

My friend Claire absolutely loves felt and all things crafty and is an absolute goddess at creating amazing felt cubes (one of which she made for me for christmas, which is epiiiiic!), so for her birthday I decided to get her loads of felt, wool, some ribbon and thread! I also attempted to make a little bear, which when you compare to the felt cubes Claire makes, my stitch work is appalling, but I gave it a good shot I think :) I've also wanted to create some hand rendered and floral-esque type for a while now too, which I've managed to do so and killed two birds with one stone!

Also, check out Claire's blog!

Birthday Card - Richie

I based this card on the recent book cover designs I made, but I personalised it more for my brother, who is studying physics at Oxford University. I visited him with my parents over the weekend and he didn't know I was coming down to visit him, which was a nice surprise for him, and I got to see Oxford for the first time, which was amazing! Happy Birthday Richie! :)

Birthday Card - Dani

A card I made for my friend Dani's 21st birthday, I wanted to try cutting typography out with the scalpel, and it was much harder than I thought, but I gave it a good shot.

Birthday Card - Dad

I made this a few weeks ago, but couldn't upload it until after his birthday, and at the moment I have no internet in my house. Fun times. Anyway, I really like this card I made, and I'm impressed with how quick I managed to make it too.

Birthday Card - Ant

I am really pleased with the result of this card, the photography and digital medium compliment each other perfectly. And thanks to James who suggested placing a hand in to balance the composition.

Birthday Card - Laura

This is my favorite card yet, probably because I actually got better at cutting things out.

Birthday Card - James

Another card, this time for my friend James. I really had a lot of fun designing this, as I was experimenting with what I could do in illustrator and came out with an interesting design as well as teaching myself the program further.

Birthday Card - Edd

I decided to make another birthday card, this time for my Friend Edd. I thought it would be a good idea to make a completely analogue card this time, so I cut into the card to create an abstract shape. To add to the whole analogue feel, I sewed the corners together, rather than stapling/ glueing or taping down, as it is much more aesthetic. I really liked the sleeve from the last card I made, so I made another as it adds to the presentation.

Birthday Card - Mum

I thought it would be a nice idea to make a birthday card for my Mum's birthday. I used this image I found online, and applied it to a photograph I took and added in typography. For a finishing touch I also created an envelope (although it is more of a sleeve) for the card.
