We were asked to keep a sketchbook of what we saw in the university, and I focused on lights and the shadow they cast upon objects. I then developed them further until I created a sort of final piece with the work I had created.
Our final week of life drawing, in which we were told we could use any medium. I decided to get rid of pencil, as I still hate using it, but kept the charcoal, white paint and black ink as I love the marks and texture of what they produce. My accuracy is still pretty poor, but I'm still improving. I have really enjoyed these past 4 weeks, much more than I originally thought I would.
We were told to use just ink and paint this week, and I enjoyed it so much I even used my hands to paint - which I absolutely hate doing. I think I'm getting much better at life drawing, im still not very accurate at all, but I'm keeping the emotion there.
I'm really starting to enjoy these life drawing sessions, I much prefer using charcoal than pencil, as it leaves a much nicer and more moody mark. It gives my drawings more emotion, as the fact that I'm not very accurate is almost hidden by the expressive marks. However, I need more practice with charcoal.
The second of the 3 part brief. For this brief we had to research into our fruit and veg, in which I also discovered that peppers are actually fruit, it is just a common misconception that they are vegetables.
Yes I am aware that I have spelt Argentina wrong...my bad.
The next 3 briefs including this one are all linked together. There were no final pieces for this brief, we just simply had to draw what we saw with a fruit and a vegetable. We had to be as creative as we could with what little we had.
Although there were no finals, I decided to paint bigger versions of the fruit and veg to experiment with scale as well as background colour.
We were given a choice of objects, my choice was the object brick, and we had to experiment with the object 100 times to try and push yourself further with the creative process.
